        District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Kamrup, Mirza is a district level educational institution and a centre for training and academic guidance of the schools at the grass root level. In consequence of the New Educational policy 1986, DIET, Kamrup, Mirza was established on 1st September, 1989 by put an end to the old Basic Training centre, Mirza. It is among the first phase DIETs, in Assam. Apart from the various prompt training schedules under the patronage of NCERT, SCERT, SSA and different Government and non Government agencies, we at present are providing D.El.Ed and B.Ed courses in the regular mode. It has been one of the most inspiring institutes for quality education. It has

been our upright pleasure that this institute benefited to a large section of people and empowering them for the educational upliftment to lead a quality and meaningful life. The main motto of the institution is to provide quality education and academic as well as resource support at the grass root level for the sustainable development of education and universalisation of elementary education. Since its inception in 1989, everyone associated with the institution and immensely contributed a lot for the progress of the community. This institution is intensively associated with the society and community rendering the whole districts. It covers eleven educational blocks in the whole districts including both Kamrup Rural and Kamrup Metro and it is the only government institution for the training of the Pre-Service and In-Service teachers of the districts mentioned. It has been developing a great educational scenario in the state. The institution always aims for the holistic development of the teacher trainees not only for the elementary schools but also for the secondary schools. In this age of science and technology the institution has been initiating ICT integrated classes for quality education and the empowering all the trainees comprehensively. Our institution has been pioneering in doing various duties for the community which is an integral part of education. Faculties cum the DIET officers are also engaged in the extension service for community and in the process of academic supervision and support to the schools as well as Block Academic Consultation Groups. As a resource person they perform their duties not only in the block level but also in the district level.

        Teacher Education and Skill are the utmost need for the holistic development of the teaching professionals and in turn to the students. Accordingly the teacher education courses and training programs are designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, attitudes, behaviours, and skills for the effective classroom transaction. Education is the process of facilitating learning or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits which are exhibited in the institution. Faculties are also engaged in doing the Action research which is an important part for developing immediate solution of the problems as well as it trigger up research activities and professional development of the faculties

        As per the specified structure of a DIET, we have seven branches in the institution. Branches are given in details at the specified icon here in the website. All these branches have been functional with adequate infrastructure and experts. The institute is accoutre with Library facilities, well furnished Science laboratories, Psychological Laboratory, Educational Technology section, District Resource Unit, Art Gallery, ICT Hub etc. We have Hostel and Recreation facility with modern playground infrastructure.
